Projection Capabilities
- LCD Projector: The most common form of projection in UMW classrooms, an LCD projector may be mounted to the ceiling or available on a stationary surface in the room.
- Visual Presenter (or "ELMO"): This device allows for projector of paper documents, transparencies, or three-dimensional objects. It usually sits on the instructor's podium and has several large arms that swing over a flat surface.
- Sympodium: Newer classes may be outfitted with this kind of special monitor at the instructor's station. It allows a user to markup, record, and otherwise manipulate the computer's visual display.
Computer & Control System
- Instructor's Computer: Most, but not necessarily all, classrooms and labs that have an LCD projector will have a computer connected to it.
- Laptop Connection: In some rooms, a cable or port is available that allows someone to hook up an external laptop to the projector.
- Control System: There are several types of systems for controlling the media equipment in classrooms:
- Touch-Panel Display: The instructor touches a display on a station/podium to control the devices.
