Following the Feedbook. . .

Gardner Writes » Blog Archive » Feedbook
I’m captivated by the Feedbook idea that Gardner has brought up over on his blog (with a nod to Brian Lamb’s Furl for getting him–and me–there in the first place).
In a comment over at Gardner’s, I envisioned a faculty member distributing an OPML file to her […]

Blog Ban

Wired is running an article on corporations banning employee access to blogs via company computers.
According to this article
. . . companies worry that employees might leak sensitive material — perhaps inadvertently — while posting comments to blog message boards. In a survey of over 300 large businesses . . . 57.2 percent […]

Playing over at Ning

Over the weekend, my Ning account got upgraded to beta developer status.  I’m pretty excited.
Ning is basically a Web site that allows you to build social applications. The best feature, in my opinion, is the ability to clone existing apps and create new ones which meet your specific needs.
I’m not a programmer, by […]

Flocking

The developer preview of Flock is now available. I’m writing this post from within the built-in blogging tool. It’s pretty cool. I’ve used an extension for Firefox before (Blog This) that would allow me to write to my blog easily from the browser, but this feels even more integrated. There is actually a button in […]

A new leaf

When I first started writing this blog, a better name would have been the Reluctant Blogger. I wanted to really get into my blog. I wanted it to become a virtual home for my thoughts. I wanted to use it as a place for my ideas to percolate, clarify, and emerge. But I was, […]

There’s a new blog in town

Over here in DTLT-land, we decided we wanted to try out group-blogging. Don’t get me wrong, I love my blog and I have no plans on leaving it, but the group blog seems like a horse of an entirely different color.
Will the experience be vastly different than blogging on our personal blogs? […]

Google Reader: The Latest in RSS Fun

Via plasticbag, I found Google’s new (RSS) Reader tool.
I was able to import my subscriptions from a Bloglines XML export without any trouble. Now I’m trying to get my head around the interface. Since I just suscribed to the feeds, there are no items associated with them at the moment. That makes it hard […]

Please keep your python to yourself.

Um. Ouch.

And, I don’t get this quote:
“There had been some hope that alligators can control Burmese pythons,” Mazzotti said. “This indicates to me it’s going to be an even draw. Sometimes alligators are going to win and sometimes the python will win.”
Uh, I’m not sure there was a clear “winnner” in this situation.

The Power of Story

I love the radio show This American Life. I’m always happy when I’m out on the weekend and it comes on the radio(Because we live out in the boonies and have terrible radio reception, I only get to listen to NPR in the car. Poor me. ) So I was thrilled to find this […]

Won’t you join my wiki?

I want to follow-up on yesterday’s (multi-part) post about synchronous document editing on the Web by pointing to this post at Om Malik’s Broadband Blog. He wonders if the writing world is really ready for all of these web-based writing tools–particularly given some users’ (himself included) discomfort with writing in a browser. I must […]
