I've never heard of Second Life before reading of it here! Fascinating. I just took a look at it and could see myself spending hours and hours exploring it. I'm also interested in how one might incorporate gaming into education. I know that many, many of my students are interested in RP games. They do them online and also in their dorm rooms. One of my students wrote a short story in which the characters used a lot of D&D lingo and terms that I did not recognize. Much to my surprise, pretty much every single student in the class knew these terms. Not only that, they chastised the student for "explaining" too much and assuming their ignorance. I wish I could have heard that presentation.

[...] Martha’s just written a wonderful blog post (”A Second Lifetime“) on Second Life. I was commenting on Martha’s blog when suddenly my comment morphed into a blog post of my own. Rather than leave the world’s longest comment, I decided to move my remarks here. They’re provisional, and I don’t have any pictures (they’re on my home desktop), but more will follow, I’m sure. [...]
